Terms and conditions
The agreement between you and Tails We Keep when you create a preview or order a book.
Last updated 6 August 2026
1. Who we are
Tails We Keep produces personalised illustrated storybooks in the United Kingdom. Contact: hello@tailswekeep.co.uk.
2. Previews
Every preview starts free: you see the front cover and pages 1-2, watermarked and at screen resolution, with no payment and no card details. A payment of £1 unlocks the remaining preview pages, which remain watermarked and at screen resolution and are for your personal review only.
3. Preview credit
The £1 unlock payment is credited in full against a subsequent book order for the same preview, reducing the £49 book price to £48. The credit applies to one book order, is valid for 90 days, and has no cash value.
4. What the book is
A book ordered through this site is a square 21 × 21cm pur bound hardcover of 32 pages: a title page carrying the title and any dedication you write, 30 story pages across 15 double-page spreads, and a closing page reproducing a photograph you supply. Printed by our print partner and shipped to you, on Mohawk matte 120gsm.
5. Proofs and approval
- After a book order, we supply a clean digital proof of the complete book.
- Nothing is printed until you approve the final proof. Approval is recorded in your account and is the point at which you confirm the likeness and the facts — names, dates and places — are right.
- If the proof isn't right, email us before approving and we will not print it; we'll sort it out with you directly.
- Once approved, the book is a personalised item made to your specification.
6. Your content
You keep ownership of the photos and text you supply. You grant us a licence to use that material solely to produce your preview, proof and book. We will not use it publicly without your specific written permission.
Before you can upload anything, you confirm: "I own these photos, or I have the photographer's permission to use them, and anyone else pictured is happy for them to be used." We record that confirmation with its wording and the date. Where a photo includes a child, a separate parent or guardian confirmation is required as well. If it turns out you did not have those rights, we may stop work on the book and remove the material.
7. Our content
The finished book is licensed to you for personal, non-commercial use. You may photograph it and share it. Reselling the artwork or text, or reproducing the book commercially, is not permitted.
8. Acceptable use
We may decline or cancel an order that involves unlawful content, content depicting harm to animals or people, or material you don't have the right to supply. Where we cancel, we refund in full.
9. Pricing and payment
Prices are shown in pounds sterling and include UK delivery. Payments are live: the £1 preview unlock and any book order are real transactions charged at the time you confirm them.
Payment processing, print production and delivery are carried out on our behalf by established third-party providers. Card details are never stored by us.
We do not currently contract to any production or delivery date: Your book goes to the printer once you approve the proof. We're not quoting production or delivery timescales yet — you'll get confirmed dates by email, and nothing is charged for print separately.
10. Cancellation and refunds
Personalised goods are excluded from the standard 14-day right to cancel once production has begun. Our full position, including reprints for damaged or misprinted books, is on the refund policy page.
11. Liability
Our liability is limited to the value of your order. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death, personal injury or fraud.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
This page is provided as clear, plain-English information about how we intend to operate. It is not legal advice.
